Yerbe maté is a shrub related to the evergreen plants in the holly family. It has a delicious earthy and vegetal flavor that's made it popular for thousands of years. In fact, the plant was first cultivated by the indigenous Guaraní people in what is now Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. It is now the most consumed caffeinated beverage in several South American countries (making it different from most herbals which are naturally caffeine-free).
Our cut-leaf, Brazilian yerba maté makes an excellent brew with minimal dust. Be sure steep it at a cooler temperature than tea!
