About Our Malawian Tea

While Malawi hasn’t seen recent fighting, this is specifically because Malawians lived under a brutal, totalitarian dictatorship for nearly 30 years. This left Malawi as one of the poorest countries in both Africa and the world.

Part of the country’s recovery in the succeeding decades has been in the tea industry, as Malawi, like several other East African countries, benefits from the fertile volcanic soil of mountains surrounding the Great Rift Valley. Ours comes from the Satemwa Estate in the Shire Highlands.
